Medicine Hat Public Library Continues to Offer Great Services - read the message from them below:

Though our building is currently closed to the public, we are still offering a no-contact materials pick up service and we have TONS of online resources that you can access anytime from the comfort of your isolation.

Read on for all the details you need to keep yourself educated and entertained during these difficult and uncertain times.

Materials Pick Up Service

We're here to schedule no-contact pick ups of our materials, Monday - Friday from 10am - 5pm. All the details you need to access this service can be found in this blog post. Please pay careful attention to the rules that we ask you to adhere to during your scheduled pick up time - this will keep you and our staff safe.

One important thing to note is that we're not able to process holds on Bibliocommons right now, but you can still use it as a search tool to help you decide what to ask for when you schedule your pick up over the phone. Just make sure that the items you're searching for are available at our library since we aren't able to transfer materials between member libraries at this time.

eResources

There is SO MUCH value packed into your library card! Here’s a list of our most popular eResources that we recommend you try.
  • eBooks & eAudiobooks with OverDrive (and the Libby app) and OverDrive for Kids & Teens.
  • eAudiobooks, comics, and magazines with RBDigital.
  • eBooks, audiobooks, and games for children with TumbleBooks.
  • Newspapers & magazines with PressReader.
  • Online learning with Gale Courses.
  • Learn another language with Pronunciator.
  • Research your family tree with Ancestry, which is currently available at home during the pandemic!
  • Help your children to complete their schoolwork with our online study help and exam prep tool, Solaro. You might even find it helpful yourself if you find yourself needing a refresher on some grade school topics.
One important thing to note here is that we're constantly adding new eBooks and eAudiobooks to our online collection. So if you can’t find what you’re looking for now, check back often!

What If My Library Card Is Expired?

We can process your library card renewal over the phone! Give us a call at 403-502-8525 between the hours of 10am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. You can also submit a renewal request online using our Renewal Form but please note, this option will take a bit longer than the phone call. If you know someone who doesn't have a library card but would like to start accessing our online resources, tell them about our Free Trial

Missing Our Fantastic Programs?

We’ve been doing some fun virtual programs in order to stay connected to you, our wonderful patrons. To see all of the programs we've recorded since our doors closed, subscribe to our YouTube channel. You'll find storytimes, craft programs for all ages, a travelogue, and even a secret family chili recipe revealed!

If you're a trivia fan you'll be happy to hear that we're doing weekly online trivia games using a platform that can host up to 100 players at a time! Join us every Thursday at 8pm by typing "crowd.live" into your web browser (on a device or computer), and typing in the PIN number we'll reveal for you every Thursday morning on our social media pages (in our IG & FB stories and as a regular tweet on Twitter). We're also doing some bonus trivia games this Saturday for Comic Book Day (at 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and 7:00 pm) and on Monday for Star Wars Day (at 3:30 pm).
Be sure to follow us on social media (@MHPublicLibrary on FacebookInstagramTwitter) to not only see our virtual programs and find our trivia PIN's, but also for book recommendations and to see what our staff are getting up to. We're also curious to know how you're using your library card these days, so please tag us in your posts about how your library card is keeping you company in isolation.

Stay well-read, friends!
